About Advanced Feature Definitions

Use Path Analysis definitions to discover the pages visited before and/or after a specified page or content group. This enables you to see both how visitors are reaching key pages or content groups and where they go once they visit them. For example, you can view the most common paths to your ordering page, or you could see where visitors go after viewing product information pages.

Use these steps to create a Path Analysis definition.

  1. From the links at the top of the WRC AdminConsole, click Advanced Features.

  2. Select the Path Analysis tab and click Add.

  3. In the Description text box, enter a name for this path analysis. What you enter here identifies the path analysis throughout the program.

  4. Select whether to track based on pages or content groups.

  5. In the Page/Content Group To Track text box, type the web page or select the content group to use as the starting point for the path analysis.

  6. In the From This Page/Content Group text box, type a number to specify the depth of the analysis. For example, a value of 6 reports on the next six pages the user visits from the specified page/content group.

  7. In the To This Page/Content Group text box, type a number to specify the depth of the analysis. For example, a value of 9 reports on the previous nine pages the user visited before the specified page/content group.

  8. Use the Maximum Number Of Paths To Track text box to type the maximum number of paths to track for this definition. When this value is reached, the entire table is discarded from the report. This is necessary because all matches must be considered for accurate reports.

You may need to reduce this number to reduce the amount of memory used in processing.

  9. Click OK to close the dialog box.
