To track activities of separate departments or divisions within your organization, add each section of the company that you want to track to the Intranet Domains database as an independent intranet domain.

Complete the following steps to add an Intranet Domain:

  1. From the links at the top of the WRC AdminConsole, click Advanced Features.

  2. Select the Intranet Domains tab.

  3. Click Add. The Intranets dialog box opens.

  4. In the Intranet Domain text box of the Domain section, type the domain name of the department or division of your organization to be listed in your report (for example, marketing.xyz.com).

Note: This name can be real or fictitious because it's used only as a heading in reports. The actual information for this Intranet Domain relies on the Pattern field's entry at the bottom of this dialog box to determine what data to use in analysis and reporting.

  5. In the Name text box, type the descriptive name of the organization or department as you want it to appear in reports (for example, Marketing Dept.).

  6. In the City text box of the Location section, type the location of the department or division.

  7. From the State/Province drop-down list, select the appropriate location.

  8. From the Country drop-down list, select the appropriate location.

  9. In the Pattern text box of the IP Address/Pattern/Subnet section, enter the IP address, domain name, or range of IP addresses as they appear in your web server log file (for example, marketing.xyz.com).

Note: The WebTrends software performs pattern matching on these entries after it has resolved the domain names, so if neither your web server nor the WebTrends software converts IP addresses to domain names, you can only use an IP address in this field.

  10. When you have finished, click OK to save your selections and return to the Intranet Domains dialog box. The new Intranet Domain definition and corresponding description appear in the list.

*Note: If you have not been granted full administrative rights in WebTrends Reporting Center, or if you are a WebTrends Reporting Service or Log Analyzer user, you may not be able to configure or use this feature. Please see your administrator if you have any questions.
