A Message from Bruce Coleman,
CEO, WebTrends

Hello... As the CEO of WebTrends, I'd like to introduce myself and to let you know a little bit about my vision for the company. I'm new to WebTrends, but not to the technology industry—I've managed software and services companies for over 25 years. I bring this wide-ranging perspective of the marketplace to WebTrends to drive excellence and build success. I've been very impressed with the progress that's been made with our organization over the last few years, and there's a lot more exciting work to do.

My focus is on short—term execution and our long term digital marketing strategy to build success for both WebTrends and our customers. Right now I'm actively recruiting key executives in order to expand our team, and I'll continue to help our organization focus on the strategies that help our customers achieve better results from their online initiatives.

I'm delighted to be here, and I'm looking forward to navigating this dynamic market and strengthen our world-class, customer-service-oriented organization. We'll continue to be your trusted partners in this rapidly changing online space, and I look forward to guiding the entire WebTrends team to help drive your business results.

Holiday Web Spend Topping 2006 So Far (eMarketer)
US consumers spent more than $14 billion online during the first 32 days of the holiday shopping season, according to comScore. That is up 17% compared with the same period for 2006. "This most recent week started strong as consumers spent $733 million on Cyber Monday, which was followed by three consecutive days where spending surpassed $700 million," said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni, in a statement.

2008 Outlook: No Sign of a Cooldown in Local Online Ads (The ClickZ Network)
Bolstered by the popularity of search, directory and inexpensive video, local online advertising should grow by about 50 percent and become a nearly $13 billion industry by the end of next year, according to a new study.

Mobile Content Creation Has Big Potential (eMarketer)
User-generated and shared content will account for one-quarter of the world's entertainment within five years, according to Nokia's "A Glimpse of the Next Episode" report, conducted by The Future Laboratory. Nokia said that nearly three out of 10 tech-savvy mobile users ages 16 to 35 blogged, and nearly as many used social networking sites.

U.S. Wireless Subscriptions Surge Past 250 Million (The ClickZ Network)
Wireless subscribers in the U.S. have surpassed 250 million, according to a report released by industry group CTIA. Cell phone subscriptions reached 250 million in just over 20 years and increased at a rate of 352 percent since 1997.
