Job Description
We are looking for a senior sales-oriented Regional Manager to re-energize and expand our business in Asia. Webtrends has existing distributor partnerships in the region that need local active management including leadership, sales partnering, re-commitment and possibly replacement. The Company also desires to expand its business opportunities in China and other key Asian markets by selecting, training, partnering and motivating local distributors.
The Regional Manager of APAC should be familiar with digital marketing and online advertising in many or all of the following geographies: China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India. The desired candidate will have prior experience in successfully building and managing an indirect channel in Asia for a U.S. company software and services company. The Regional Manager of APAC will have lived and worked in the region and will ideally reside in Hong Kong or Singapore or relocate to the region.
Compensation includes a competitive base salary and commission based on sales performance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluate, manage, and support existing partners in the region (Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia), including supporting their growth targets through effective client services, education and training, and joint sales and marketing activities and product representation.
- Define and lead Webtrends further expansion into the Asia Pacific region with emphasis on China. Select, train and launch partners in new markets and jointly establish anchor customers in the territory.
- Coordinate with Webtrends corporate Product Management and Engineering functions the localization of Webtrends offerings in each market. Develop cooperative localization arrangements with region partners where specific local requirements or time-to-market needs demand.
- Be Webtrends evangelist and ambassador in the APAC markets. Propose, organize, attend, panel, and demonstrate expertise at local and regional conferences, and build and maintain strong relationships with counterparts of company technology partners. The ideal candidate will have established relationships with decision-making digital marketing and advertising agency executives in the region.
- Manage all aspects of both the direct sales and distributor sales cycle, e.g., prospecting, developing and maintaining relationships, implementing account strategies, lead generation, forecasting, closing complex sales, and post sales reporting. Establish and actively monitor monthly goals and sales targets for each distributor.
- Provide the corporate management with initial and continuous market analysis, along with region-specific economic, political, cultural or regulatory information that may affect webtrends business in the region.
Required Skills/Education
- The right candidate will be a great sales person, relationship manager and also be comfortable working in a smaller regional staff environment.
- Have the ability to work with/sell to/partner with multiple levels of an organization.
- Have the ability to sell to marketers, technologists and senior people within an organization.
- Work autonomously to close deals and/or pull in internal teams to get deals done and represent the customer to the home office.
- Have a track record of building and executing strategies to penetrate new markets and close new business.
- Have experience in planning, budgeting and managing a regional P&L.
- The role will require frequent travel within Asia and working through multiple time zones in order to interact with customers and partners.
- Incumbent must pass background check.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- At least 7 - 10 years of experience in the APAC market.
- 5+ years experience in advertising & digital agency market preferred. Background in online advertising, advertising technologies, and/or online marketing consulting will also be a plus.
- Consistent quota achievement in past positions.
- Must have a strong understanding of how to partner with companies across multiple cultures and countries.
- Fluent English is required. Proficiency or a working knowledge of Asian languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and Korean, is a plus.
- Strong presentation skills and comfortable speaking with senior level executives.
- Experience managing and leading a team.
- University educated with advanced degree preferred.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- People who have this experience might have work experience with Omniture, Core Metrics, Atlas DMT, Doubleclick, Google, Overture/Yahoo, Carat, Amazon.com, Red Sheriff or other companies in the online optimization market.
